Georgie Henley was born in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, UK, the youngest of three daughters of Mike and Helen Henley. When she was young, she joined a local drama group called "Upstagers". She started acting for fun, and participated in various stage performances before starting her acting career. She is no longer with the group.
It was when Pippa Hall, casting director for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), came to Georgie's town in search of children to play the four
Pevensies, and knew that Georgie would be perfect for the role of "Lucy" after
only one audition. After 18 months of auditioning, Georgie was
picked from thousands of girls to play "Lucy Pevensie" in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, which was her movie debut. After finishing filming, she put her career on hold (other than a small role in a BBC mini series) to focus on her school work. While continuing with school, she reprised her role as Lucy in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Capian (2008) and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010). In 2011 she gained the role as "Beth" in Perfect Sisters, opposite Abigail Breslin, and in 2012 she filmed The Sisterhood of Night together with Kara Hayward.
Taking more time off to focus on her studies, Georgie completed her years at Bradford Grammar School in 2013, with grades good enough to land her a spot at Cambridge University, studying English at Clare College. While there she has both acted in/directed multiple theatre productions, and in the late summer of 2015 (before her final year started) she filmed Access All Areas together with a fellow British actress, Ella Purnell.
Georgie has said that she looks forward to finishing her studies and begin acting on fulltime.
